You may remember those cheezy commercials of the 80’s featuring a young woman enduring all of life’s hassles. The traffic, the baby crying, the boss at work, it is all too much so she cries out “Calgon take me away.” Yes, today it is still a fact that we have lots to deal with and those hassles seem to be endless. But, Calgon Bubble Bath isn’t the answer for people today. Instead, we truly get away and out of the house by visiting the day spa. The spa is a place of calm and tranquility, a place that Calgon never could truly take you. There are many kinds of spas that have popped up all around the Tampa Bay area, but there are some that take it to the next level. They bring it to a level that promotes health, tranquility and sustainability. They are the triple threat indeed. This wonderful eco day spa that I speak of is called Inspire Natural Beauty located in downtown St. Petersburg.
Going Green Tampa had the distinct pleasure to visit this serene piece of heaven. It was really exciting to see that this business takes pride in creating a relaxing, healing experience while still being a steward for the earth. They are diligent in researching and understanding the products that they both use and sell, making sure the ingredients are in fact organic and healthy. The spa itself is furnished with both used and antique furniture, energy efficient appliances and non-toxic paints and cleaning products. The soft organic towels and sheets are a nice touch to make sure you have a luxurious experience.
Inspire Natural Beauty is also currently taking part in a recycling initiative of old nail polishes. If you bring in your old or used non-organic nail polishes, they will offer you 40% off a new organic polish called Priti NYC. They will send the old polishes to a company that responsibly disposes of the polish and recycles the rest.
When you are having a rough day, you deserve to pamper yourself with an organic treatment. They offer facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, make-up application and more. I indulged in the “Inspire Me Beautiful Facial, and after 60 peaceful and relaxing minutes I didn’t want to leave. I left feeling calm, pretty and smelling good. What more can you ask for?
Stop by and see Lea Ann and Kaitlyn for your “take me away” moments and it will be the best thing you can do for your body and you don’t have to leave feeling guilty about the environment.

Natural Eco Products is on a mission to help businesses, cities, companies & individuals to go green with their disposable ware. Our great range of to-go disposable wares will help anyone achieve their goal of being more green. This is because our products are made from plants & are not just biodegradable but, compostable & also gluten free!
That's right, Gluten Free! The only products which contain any wheat are the deli containers but it is only the wheat starch which is used. Further more as the PLA making process denatures the proteins in starch there is no risk of any gluten being present in any of our PLA cups, deli containers or silverware. Our napkins are made from paper and bagasse is made from sugar cane so no risk of there being gluten in them.
So what are you waiting for? The earth needs everyone of us to make decisions & take action today not tomorrow! Chemical laden trash is a HUGE problem and as a state that is surrounded by soo much water, Floridians have extra responsibility to be responsible for greening their trash. Help us to help you to reduce your carbon footprint & reuse materials in your everyday lives.

With the popularity and rise of the sustainability movement, more people are referring to permaculture. As defined by the Permaculture Institute, Permaculture is an ecological design system for sustainability in all aspects of human endeavor. It teaches us how build natural homes, grow our own food, restore diminished landscapes and ecosystems, catch rainwater, build communities and much more.
GreenDreams is a Tampa based business that offers landscaping services, garden installation, rainwater harvesting and homesteading education, all based on permaculture principles. You can start small with a consultation. Learning how to transition your yard from the typical sod based landscape to more of a Florida friendly landscape can save you time and money in the long run.
If you have a small yard or no yard at all, you have the option of growing vertically. See how you can grow your own food in a very limited space using grow towers. When you start looking beyond the typical cookie-cutter landscape, you realize that it is possible to have your own "food forest" right in your back yard (or back porch)!

I've been making my own laundry detergent for a while now. I looked at several recipes online and they all used Fels-Naptha soap. I went out, had to go to a couple different stores and brought the ingredients home. Once I opened that package, I knew this was not going to work for me. The fragrance of the soap is so strong that I couldn't even have the bar of soap in the house, let-alone use it on our clothes.
So I went into our shower and got one of our bottles of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps. This is a product that we love and a little goes a long way. I've been making my detergent with it ever since. You can also apply a little right to stains before washing as an effective stain remover.
Here's the super-easy recipe-
- 3 cups Borax
- 3 cups Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (not regular baking soda).
- Mix the two together and store in a container with a lid.
- approx. 1/2 tsp Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap - liquid, any scent, per load
As you can see, it's equal parts Borax and Washing Soda. So depending on what size container you are going to keep this in, adjust the amount to your needs. I mix the two ingredients (my container has a lid so I just put them in and shake it a few times). I put about 1/3 cup of the mix and a couple squirts of soap right in the washing machine dispenser. I use the liquid soap because I have a HE washer. If you have a top loading washer you could buy the bar soap (Dr. Bronner's), grate it fine and mix it in the container with the other two ingredients and you would be good to-go.
You can find Borax and washing soda at most grocery stores. Dr. Bronner's is at health food stores and some Target's. I usually buy a 32 oz bottle which costs about $12.99. For laundry, I like the lavender, my current bottle has lasted a year 1/2 so far.
